A total of 23002 persons applied to enlist their name in the voters list of nine assembly constituencies under Sepahijala district. The name of applicants will take place in the draft voter list to be published on January 5 in 2018 by adding and deducting the names applied for enlistment, said DM of Sipahijala District Pradip Chakraborty to provide information about publication of voters list at the time of showing VVPAT system at Bishalgarh SDM Office yesterday.
He further added that the numbers of enlisted names in the voters list would be revealed after January 5 in 2018. He informed that voters can apply by Form 6, 7, 8 and 8 (A) to include name in the voters list. Besides he said, 213 voters of the district are employed in different divisions of Indian Army. They applied to enlist their name in the voters list through on line system introduced by Election Commission. Because they are also interested to elect their representative for assembly or Loksabha.
DM and District Returning Officer further said,15,275 voters filled up Form -6 , 5255 persons filled up Form -7, 1998 voters filled up Form no-8 and 473 persons filled up Form No- 8 (A).
The number of voters name enlisted on the basis of assembly constituencies are 1472 voters at 12 Takarjala constituency, 2137 at 15 Kamalasagar, 2727 at 16- Bishalgarh, 2076 at 17 –Golaghati, 1794 at 19 Charilam, 3307 at 20 Boxanagar, 2508 at 21- Nalchar, 3203 at 22- Sonamura and 3778 at 23- Dhanpur.
He further said, the number of applicants among the 23002 applications for inclusion of name, shifting of address or deletion or correction of spelling of name are much more constituencies adjacent to Bangladesh border in comparison to other constituencies under Sonamura and Bishalgarh subdivisions. The numbers of applicants is highest at Sonamura and Dhanpur constituency. Second highest numbers of applicants are at 20 –Boxanagar and 22- Sonamura constituency.
Besides R.O. said, numbers of polling stations are 454 in the entire Sipahijala district. Despite this number of Returning Officer is 6, Assistant R.O. is 18, Assistant Electoral Returning Officer is 32, BLO Supervisor 37 and BLO 454. Number of Booth level agent is 1125.
DM Chakraborty further appealed fault free voters list for free fair and peaceful election at 3 districts of Sepahijala. He expected to prepare EVM and VVPAT machines for the assembly poll to conduct the election without any fault.
