150th Birth anniversary of Lenin: Manik calls for self-introspection

AGARTALA:

Taking a strong exception to the typical CPIM tone, four times Chief Minister and serving leader of the opposition Manik Sarkar today sought to advise his party activists to get involved in self-introspection and wage an ideological battle as a clean, sober and spirited-communist worker.

The politburo member, in an annoyed voice, also suggested the party workers to rely on the ideology of communism rather practicing opportunism or flattery to appear in the good-books of local best.

“There are people, for instance, who show reluctance to spell a single word in the party’s branch meeting on budget but soon after the meeting get over they start criticizing the branch chief for accounting a misleading one. So, what is the point out there? Such acts are never part of communism” he said while addressing assembly party members at Agartala Town Hall.

In the programme which was organized to remember VI Lenin on his 150th Birth Anniversary, he also pointed out the issues that the neo-age communists should learn-read and analyze in regular intervals. “First of all we need to understand how Lenin became Lenin. He never compromised with his ideology, he never found to be amongst the people and most importantly his primary goal towards organization never tripped off”, said he.

But, in our context, he added, the members of our mass-organizations every year included new party members. Before the last assembly elections the total of all mass-organization members stood at 26 to 27 lakh. In spite of that Left Front secured a little over 10 lakh votes.

When inquired after, it was observed that larger number of the mass-organization members had dual, sometimes triple memberships in different wings. The concept behind mass-organizations and trade-unions is not to get involved in a tug of war between each other but to generate more and more awareness among the people about your ideology, that’s what Lenin taught, he told the gathering with references from the life and work of Lenin.

He also urged the party workers to prepare for a greater battle of revolution in a polite and sensible way. “A true communist should be appreciated by the society for his greatness rather than something else. The new generation of communism has to be dedicated towards social causes and for the working class rather than societal beadledom or conservatism” he signed off.

Meanwhile, CPIM state committee secretary Goutam Das, former Minister Manik Dey, CPIM state committee member Subrata Chakraborty and CPIM leader Manik Dey also delivered their brief anecdotes on the life of Lenin.
